SciFinder Scholar - CAplus file -
CAS has developed, in-house, new processing software tools and procedures for patents from the People’s Republic of China, which have increased from 3.7% in 2001 to 12.5% by the end of 2005. The PRC is now the fourth largest source of patent records covered by CAS, following Japan, WIPO, and the US.
CAS has expanded Korean patent data with records for granted patents since 1997 and examined applications since 2000.
3. Chemical Abstracts REG File Nomenclature Changes
Nomenclature improvements include more uniformly cited locants, reduction in the number of stereoparent names, and the elimination of nearly 3,000 obscure stereoparents. Unexpressed amides also will be disregarded. http://www.cas.org/ONLINE/UG/caindexname.pdf
Chemical names produced through the new system will begin to appear in CAS Registry database records in December 2006. Old CA Index Names will be converted to the new nomenclature in 2007, but the old names will continue to be displayed in the Registry records.
